Children Starting School for the First Time - September 2025

The Local Authority co-ordinates the application process for children starting school for the first time.  (Applications will not be accepted at the school).  Further information can be found on Milton Keynes Council website:

This is for Children born between 1st September 2020 and 31st August 2021.

The deadline for applications is the 15th January 2025.

National Offer Day is 16th April 2025.

Defined Area (Catchment)

The defined area for Monkston Primary School is Kingston, Monkston and Monkston Park.

Monkston and Monkston Park is shared with Oakgrove Primary School


In Year Admissions

In Year admissions refer to applications made at any other time after the initial September entry into Year R.

There are places in current year 1 and in year R 

However all the other year groups are full so for Year 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 applications, applying for any of these year groups will mean you will receive a turn down letter and have the option to place your child(ren) on the waiting lists.

The waiting lists are ranked via the oversubscription criteria. Length of time on the waiting list is not a factor in offering a place.

Proposed 2026 admission arrangements

The Local Governing Body of Monkston Primary School is currently consulting on the proposed admission arrangements for September 2026.  Please note there are no proposed updates to the admission arrangements already in place.  However, in accordance with the provisions set out in the School Admissions Code, the Local Governing Body must consult on the admission arrangements at least once every 7 years, even if there have been no changes during that period.

The consultation closes at 3pm on Friday, 13th December 2024 and written comments must be received by this time.
